I Had the Time of My Life (Ball)

This past weekend I was whisked away on the Austrian Airlines Outer Space Party Plane to the 16th annual Life Ball in Vienna, Austria, one of the premiere AIDS benefits in all the land -- with 50 percent of the proceeds going to AmFAR. One of hundreds of balls to take place in Vienna every year, Life Ball knocks them all out of the park in terms of attendance, buzz, celebs and, of course, dress code (also notable: it is held in the City Hall, the only government building in the world to host an AIDS charity event). Having gone to high school in beautiful Wien, I was no stranger to the dress code requirements, and thanks to PAPER's Meagan Brant, I managed to procure myself a purple, black, silk and gold lace puffy ball gown (think Snow White does Star Wars on LSD) so that I'd fit right in.
The night was everything I hoped it to be! It kicked off with performances by Amanda Lepore and Debbie Harry, speeches by Sharon Stone and Kim Cattrall and a barely-there-sexy-as-hell Agent Provocateur fashion show. After a warm-up like that, the freaks, the geeks, the straights and the gays, the boys, girls, grandmothers and politicians all partied their asses off till the wee hours of the morning before heading home covered in the glitter and body paint.

Patrick McMullan: Showtune Composer to the Stars!

This is a super cute photo from Mr. Mickey's trip to Life Ball in Vienna. Heatherette took over an entire plane and the kids totally ran amok! Drew Elliott, party promoter extraordinaire and high-powered publicist, was seated next to photographer Patrick McMullan. Patrick was on a ROLL writing musicals and singing the songs as he made them up. Drew was living for it and laughing even as he was trying to get some sleep!

Being a gay jetsetter, Mr. Mickey spends lots of time on planes and he must say that the cuisine on his recent flight to and from Vienna for Life Ball was outstanding! Mr. Mickey loves him some Austrian Airlines! Check out this fruit salad! And this pumpkin soup! After the jump check out the sexy chef responsible for it all!
