T Magazine's Trophy Trips: Talk About Pulling a Geographic!
By Ann Magnuson
During my morning internet surf I happily discovered that the New York Times' T Magazine has a new travel issue. Always curious to know what the next Patagonia is I took a looky-loo inside. Voila! A story devoted to the new "Trophy Trips" of the rich and restless. As much as I'd love to ride on the forthcoming Virgin Galactic space jet (gotta wait until I find an extra $200,000 lurking in my portfolio) or go on an Antarctic safari, I'm not sure I want to share the adventure with a bevy of jet-setting braggarts.

Mr Mickey Liebt Berlin!
By Mickey Boardman

Mr. Mickey was just in Berlin, historic capital of the German people and boy was it fabulous! MM hadn't been to the formerly divided city since just before the Wall came down in 1989 so this was MM's first chance to stroll down Unter den Linden and soak up the truly delightful atmosphere of the city and particularly the formerly communist Mitte section. Here are some snaps from the trip including the Cathedral, stylist Anton Cobb and friend and the soon to be fully dismantled Palast der Republik. The Palast was built by the communists on the site of the former Stadt Schloss (City Palace), Berlin home of the Emperors of Germany, which the Communist regime had torn down despite the fact that it was gorgeous and hundreds of years old. The new reunified regime had a referendum and the Berliners voted to tear down the Palast der Republik and rebuild the Stadt Schloss. Oh Mr. Mickey loves his Germans!
After the jump take a peek at a few more cute Berlin shots!

HELLO SAN FRANCISCO
By Kim Hastreiter

I hopped to San Francisco for a few days (where I am now) to see my great friends Ben and Chris Ospital and to attend a benefit for some of my favorite artists in the world. The program is called Creative Growth, and I've been working with these guys on their advisory board for over 15 years. CG is an arts program for mentally handicapped adults and is located in Oakland. Ben and Chris, who own the coolest clothing store in San Fran called MAC (Modern Appealing Clothing), turned me onto Creative Growth decades ago. Since the first day I stepped into the industrial building in Oakland in the early '90s and met the artists and saw the amazing work they do, I was hooked. I have been collecting art and rugs since that day and have amassed quite a collection. The two artists I am especially taken with are William Tyler and William Scott -- see their work above.
So here I am. Ben and Chris know *everyone* in this town. They've had their store for over 25 years and are just culture vultures. I'm so lucky to know them because whenever I come to town they roll out the red carpet, and literally every hour of my time is spent doing something fabulous and new. They drag me around to meet amazing people -- from artists to chefs (that's a big thing here) to museum directors to gallerists to designers...

No Way I'm Getting On That Big-Ass Airbus
By Ann Magnuson

Monday was a historic day for L.A.! The first landing of the humongous Airbus A-380 on U.S. soil took place at LAX and shutterbugs by the score were gathered for the touchdown. Video of the wobbly landing can be seen here at the L.A.Times website. "That's not uncommon," said the commentator. Yeah, maybe. But all I can see is the future headline "All 555 Dead In Worst Aviation Disaster in History." Then again, I don't like to fly in any size plane... but certainly not in one eight stories high!
From the L.A. Times:
