The West Virginia Music Hall of Fame
By Ann Magnuson
I'm winging my way to my hometown of Charleston, West Virginia to emcee the first annual West Virginia Music Hall of Fame induction ceremony (this Friday, November 16th) and I'm thrilled to high Almost Heaven! The Governor will be there and so will Senator Robert C. Byrd (the only senator to speak out against Dubya's bid for absolute power back when everyone else was quaking in their boots.) Did you know Bill "Lean On Me" Withers was from West Virginia? I didn't until WVMHoF founder Michael Lipton told me. Withers is one of the living inductees along with Grand Ole Opry star Little Jimmy Dickens (pictured above), Pulitzer-Prize-winning classical composer George Crumb, singer Hazel Dickens (whose songs can be heard in the amazing Oscar-winning documentary Harlan County, U.S.A.) and songwriter Billy Edd Wheeler whose hits include Johnny and June Carter Cash's "Jackson."

The Source Family Resurrected as Hippest Thing in L.A.
By Ann Magnuson

You read it in PAPER first! August's L.A. Woman column was all about the new book on The Source Family, an infamous hippie love cult in Los Angeles where sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll were infused with "spirit" and the whole shebang financed by the famous health food restaurant The Source (where Diane Keaton takes Woody Allen in Annie Hall and he orders the mashed yeast.) The Source book was edited and masterminded by Jodi Wille and has been seen on some of the hipper websites and coffee tables in L.A. as of late. It was also the subject of an L.A. Times article a few weeks ago and the cover story in this past week's L.A. Weekly (still on the stands today -- but hurry, today's the last day!)
And PAPER got the scoop!
I will post some great photos and a follow-up interview with Ms. Wile on this blog later but did want to get this info up before I rush off to pilates and so some of you can rush out and get the L.A. Weekly today before it has disappeared forever off the stands. It's a collectible! (Or read it online here.)
Stay tuned for more in a separate post tomorrow!!

Austrian Airlines: Serving up the Hauteness!
By Mickey Boardman

Being a gay jetsetter, Mr. Mickey spends lots of time on planes and he must say that the cuisine on his recent flight to and from Vienna for Life Ball was outstanding! Mr. Mickey loves him some Austrian Airlines! Check out this fruit salad! And this pumpkin soup! After the jump check out the sexy chef responsible for it all!
Vienna is such a gorgeous imperial city, although it was a bit on the sweaty side during Life Ball. Look for the August issue of PAPER to see photos of Life Ball taken by Europe's sexiest Prince, Hubertus Hohenlohe, exclusively for PAPER!!!
