Venerable Louis Boston to Relocate in 2010
By Julia Frakes
Our beloved Louis Boston ("Loooeeez Baahsten") will be relocating from its esteemed Newberry Street location in Boston's former Natural History Museum. Louis brought a certain kooky, offbeat panache to the now thoroughly mainstream fashion street.
The artsy independent department store often draws comparisons to Barneys New York for how it fosters up-and-coming designers including Brian Reyes, Elise Øverland, Lyn Devon and Olga Kapustina as well as offbeat labels like Dries Van Noten, Jonathan Saunders, Nathen Jenden and Marni; its innovative in-store restaurant; and venerated home and fragrance departments boasting Costes, Diptyque and Fornasetti.

Chanel's Robertson Boulevard Nail Color Collection Has Us Giddy
By Linlee Allen

East Coast beauty buffs with a penchant for colored nail polish exercised the fine art of favor-pulling with SoCal counterparts earlier this week as news of Chanel's upcoming Robertson Boulevard Nail Color Collection broke. The quartet of limited-edition shades -- hot pink, purple, yellow and tangerine -- will make their exclusive debut later this month coinciding with the highly anticipated Chanel boutique opening on Robertson Boulevard. In celebrating the event, Peter Philips aka Chanel's Global Creative Director of Makeup, christened the mini collection with names such as Melrose, Rodeo Drive, LA Sunrise and LA Sunset. Ensuring if Hollywood fever doesn't make its presence felt in fashion this season then the surge in pop-art pedicures over the summer are sure to do the job.
Available exclusively in-store at the Robertson Boulevard Chanel Boutique and as of July at www.chanel.com

About Last Night... Chanel's Tribeca Film Festival Dinner
By Caroline Torem Craig
There are more photos in this gallery. View them all.
At Chanel's Tribeca Film Festival dinner, photographers juggled damp equipment, a skimpy tent and an interminably long wait for guests, prompting one photog to note that on a day like this, he should have gotten out bed, smashed his head against the wall a few times and then gone to work. Quite the visual to keep us upbeat! In any case, Miss Gossip Girl Blake Lively was worth the wait! She looked smashing in a frothy, midnight black lace Chanel number. Also lookin' good and in attendance were Mary-Kate Olsen, Ed Burns, Christy Turlington and Natasha Richardson.

Chanel Carousel: Best Set EVER!!!
By Mickey Boardman

The Chanel set is always outrageously fabulous and flawless and many other adjectives used by drag queens. Well this year the carousel set made everything they've done in the past seem like chopped foie gras!!! How amazing is it? And it moved?? Snejana went up and down on it! Fierce, fierce, fierce as that kid with the crazy hair on Project Runway [ED: that'd be Christian] says!

Karl Lagerfeld's Black-Tie Ingenue Look
By Mickey Boardman

Karl Lagerfeld is having a busy busy week! He showed a super cute Lagerfeld show already and has Chanel tomorrow morning followed by a giant Fendi event in the evening. Luckily he's a multitasker! The Lagerfeld show was all about cute ingenue takes on the tuxedo. We love the short skirts with poufy pleats and the back pocket details on the hip-length jackets.

Stefan Campbell Presents: Eric and Becca on Their First Date
By Stefan Campbell

This is Eric, a guitarist and music major at Hunter College, with Becca, who works for an advertising company in Chelsea. They are both 22-year-old, born and raised New Yorkers on their official first date, complete with hair twirls and the classic “yes, I’m listening to your every word” forward-leans. It was very Marcia Brady and The High School Jock. I spotted them on January 24 at 7:25 p.m. at Le Pain Quotien on 17th and Seventh Ave. while I was editing the portfolio of photographer Enrico Dungca. Eric, whose personal musical style is “electro-folk,” and Becca met in 9th grade when he was dating her then (and still) best friend, however she always thought he was “cute,” she confessed. They were together for hours having coffee talk (I wonder how long they texted and IM-ed before deciding to meeting up face to face) then next off to see Juno. ( Most of us know how Juno’s first date turned out with her high school crush.)

About Last Night... The Chanel "Night of Diamonds" Dinner at the Plaza
By Caroline Torem Craig

The black and white affair held in homage to Chanel’s signature colors last night was the first to take place in the historic Grand Ballroom of The Plaza since it closed for renovations in 2005. Way back in 1966, Truman Capote hosted his legendary Black and White Ball at The Plaza, so it all felt very full circle. Madame Coco, herself, must have waved a magic wand over all the beautifully turned out guests! How could each outfit be more understated yet spectacular than the last! Trust me, they were "sans faux pas" and the accessories, brilliant and blinding. After all, this celebration was held in honor of the U.S. debut of 20 one of a kind diamond pieces from the Chanel archives and the Vendome Collection.
Celebrity, diamond-adorned guests included Selma Blair, Ellen Pompeo, Christy Turlington, Ed Burns, Barbara Bush, Julia Stiles, Josh Lucas, Candace Bushnell, Blake Liveley and more, more, more.

Mr. Mickey Takes on Paris Fashion Week: Cute Hair and Fun Ankle Purse at the Chanel Show
By Mickey Boardman

Check out this suuuuuuper cute hair-tied-in-a-bow look at Chanel!!! Mr. Mickey loves and j'adores it. Sexy French ladies are known for loving that just-had-wild-sex-with-a-hot-powerful-man look but MM think an extremely manicured coiffure like this is always the peak of fashion. And how fun is the ankle purse? If only they made a cruelty-free version for Mr. Mickey!!!

Mr. Mickey Takes on Paris Fashion Week: Chanel Men's
By Mickey Boardman

Mr. Mickey loves the idea of Chanel men's and they've been showing a few men's looks for the past couple of seasons. Mr. Mickey thinks Chanel men's could be genius and a marvelous antitdote to the rock 'n' roll menswear that frankly doesn't work for MM! What do you kids think? Is it me?

Mr. Mickey Takes on Paris Fashion Week: Chanel
By Mickey Boardman

Sitting down front at the gorgeous Palais Royale waiting for the Chanel show to begin, it's easy for a fashion-addicted journalist to feel like he's really hit the big leagues. Honestly, does it get much better or more glamorous? The production of a Chanel show is flawless, period. Chanel is such a gigantic money maker that it dwarfs almost all other fashion companies. Karl Lagerfeld has ruled the house for over two decades, mining the iconic imagery that Coco Chanel herself left behind and walking a thin line between not rocking the multi-billion dollar boat and moving things forward fashion-wise. So we end up seeing some some classic Chanel favorites each season reworked and served up for the legions of Chanel devotees.

Fashion Week Classic: Irina Lazareanu
By Mickey Boardman

We just can't ever get tired of Irina Lazareanu! Here she is at the Calvin Klein Underwear anniversary party looking adorable as always. She has an album coming out featuring Sean Lennon and Vincent Gallo. When we saw Irina in Berlin for the Puma show she told us Chanel is doing a party for her in Paris during Fashion Week to celebrate the record release. MM plans to crash!!!

The Bunny Report: "What’s so great about a fake?"
By Jordan Kinney
As of late, certain city-dwelling persons have been throwing heavier craze at me than the usual flow due to my choice adornment of this sexy faux-Chanel heart-shaped bracelet. I bought it at this nameless Korean place that sells fake designer accessories and like, international cell phone plans or something. Seriously, people have been literally gagging (totes nasty!) over the fine plastic craftsmanship, virtually threatening my own life in the pursuit of uncovering precisely where I bought it. They offer me all kinds of weird crap in exchange for the (apparently) highly prized information (gift certificates, money, first-borns, actual Chanel bracelets, etc.) but after one of such persons ended up being somehow affiliated with Chanel’s legal department I decided to keep it on the DL.
In this case, I’m pretty confident that everyone knows it isn’t real (I mean, the paint started chipping off when I got it wet -- distressed, so chic!) but are other people wearing fake designer stuff so that they can humor the world into thinking they can maybe afford the real thing? I like to think that in my love affair with such quality inauthentic low-fashion accessories I’m merely critiquing the futility (and kind of douchey attitude) of ultra-expensive name-branded high fashion itself! Why pay more for a logo when you can get something totally cheap and weird like this that no one else has? Isn’t that the thrill of uniqueness one of the most fundamental reasons to keep caring about self-style? Hells yes, I say!

Crème de la Crème: Get Your Summer Skin in Order with Estee Lauder Tinted Moisturizer
By Carol Lee
I swear by tinted moisturizers in the summer! A good TM is the best multi-tasker you can have around in the sweltering days of heat and humidity. It moisturizes, lightly bronzes, conceals and protects all in one dab! Estée Lauder’s DayWear Plus Multi Protection Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 does just that. Estée boasts this little beauty as their most powerful anti-oxidant cocktail that packs a big punch with South African red tea, grape seed, rice bran, rosemary, resveratol, vitamins C through E and little something called Eukarion, a synthetic anti-oxidant that fights aging. It is also smart enough to reflect light and use it to “create a subtle brightening effect.” In short, this baby is like Photoshop in a tube. Did I mention that it smells as cool as a cucumber and comes in four different shades? $35. Get it here.
You know what else is really cool? Chanel Hydramax+ Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15.
