Happy Birthday Capricorn!
By Ann Magnuson
I'd like to extend a very happy birthday to all my fellow Capricorns! Many famous driven people are Capricorns. Folks who make a point of making their mark in the world. As Kris Kristofferson reminded us, Jesus was a Capricorn. So was Elvis Presley, Marlene Dietrich, J.R. Tolkien, Joan of Arc, Muhammand Ali, Barry Goldwater, Rob Zombie, Ricky Martin, Edgar Allan Poe, John Denver, Shari Lewis (Lambchop too?), Susan Lucci, Mel Gibson, Howard Hughes, Mariliyn Manson, Val Kilmer, Richard Nixon, Herman Goering, Al Capone, Mao Tse Tung, Josef Stalin... uh, wait a minute. Sure we can be ambitious, sometimes ruthless but... most of us are softies deep down. At least those of us with our moon in Libra. Let's see. Capricorns....

Happy Birthday to Me!
By Dennis Dermody
It's my birthday this weekend (I share the same date as Keanu Reeves -- my soul mate). But got a great early present from a close friend: a PAL DVD of a movie that makes me insane: Je T'Aime Moi Non Plus (I Love You, I Don't), a bizarre 1976 film directed by Serge Gainsbourg starring Warhol superstar Joe Dallesandro as Krassky, a gay garbage truck driver who makes his boyfriend Padovan (Hugues Quester) wildly jealous when he falls for the boyish-looking waitress at a truck stop named Johnny (Jane Birkin).

Happy Birthday Rory Calhoun!
By Dennis Dermody
The handsome actor Rory Calhoun's birthday is August 8. He was a solid, butch, good-looking, leading man who had a slightly criminal past, which only made me like him more. He also starred in a few of my favorite cult films like Motel Hell (1980), in which he played the homicidal Farmer Vincent who ran a motel and used his clientele to make sausages. There's also The Night of the Lepus (1972), where he and Janet Leigh battled giant rabbits, Angel (1984), about a high school girl who turned tricks on Hollywood Boulevard at night and Colossus of Rhodes (1960), a great sword and sandals epic in which he played "Dario the Daring" and was directed by the late great Sergio Leone (Once Upon a Time in the West)! You can now get Colossus on www.warnervideo.com as part of their Camp Cult Classics, and it's a lot of fun. Calhoun died Aug. 28, 1988 but even Mr. Burns on The Simpsons memorialized him in the take-off episode on 101 Dalmatians...

Happy Birthday Ann-Margret!
By Dennis Dermody
Today is Ann-Margret's birthday, and here's the red-headed cutie frugging wildly in a loony 1966 movie called The Swinger. Nobody looks as good shaking her hips as Ann. Go, Kitten With A Whip!
